I Have Snowshoes!
I have been keeping an eye on the classifieds for cheap snowshoes for about a year now with no luck. I was really only mildly interested in getting them until I got Shady and realized that it would be great to be able to take her up into the mountains in the snow. I was babysitting Ava today since her daycare was closed for the holiday, and we spent the whole day looking for snowshoes. We went up to Smith and Edwards, then we hit several sporting good stores in Ogden. I was hoping to find something on sale since we are nearing the end of winter (I hope), but no luck. When I was looking on Amazon this weekend I found some sort of chain webbing that you can put over your regular shoes that act like cleats on the ice, but I didn't see anything like that in the stores either. When I dropped Ava off I asked Steph if she knew where I could get something like that, since Brandon had been into the winter sports, and she said that she had a set of snowshoes that he'd given her sitting in her garage that I was welcome to have. Needless to say I am thrilled with free snowshoes. It was too late for me to try them out today, so hopefully I will be able to take them out tomorrow and then we'll see if I'm still excited about them once I've tried them.

And for you my friend... almost free! Okay you got it for free, now I hope they are all they are cracked up to be. I have a feeling Shady may want to bite them off your feet!
You will have to let us know how they work Jen. I'm sure we could get some use out of them here in Erie.
I wonder if Shady neeeeeeds a pair of snow shoes? I know if the snow isn't hard enough, da Belly will take a step and her feet will sink in until her belly hits. She can't move very fast and she doesn't seem to like it. That being said, with a name like shady, I think she is probably pretty good at sneaking around with "light feet".
Shady don't need or want snowshoes. The snow doesn't present any challenge for her whatsoever, and in fact she likes to charge through with her head down tunneling through it.
Angela, why does your comment list a time of 4:40 a.m.? That is just sick and wrong.
It always posts the time of the blogs time zone not the commenters time zone. That being said I think I posted 7:40 our time so it should have posted 5:40 but whatever!!
And Shady do want snow shoes she really do!
It is 12:12 our time and my comment posted 9:12 your time, go figure.
It seems as if the blog is getting geared up for daylight savings time a little early.
Congrats on scoring the snow shoes. I am not sure how or why Steph did not know you were looking for some, but I'm glad you have them.
Can you take pics of yourself snowshoeing?
Now that you say that I remember that steph had those!
Also, do I have to be the one that tells everyone that Steph is engaged? I predicted it with my psychic powers and then she showed me her ring the next day :)
Steph never reads the blogs, so she never knows anything and she never tells anyone anything. Yesterday she told me they were thinking of going down to Vegas to get married sometime towards the end of March.
After I asked Ang about the 4:40 post I remembered that they always post the time in the host's time zone. That made me feel better about it.
I did not know that Steph was officially engaged, but I knew that they have been thinking about going to Vegas to get married.
Unfortunately, I think that the family wedding chapel has been closed. They will have to start a new tradition.
Oh no, the family chapel is no longer available? I feel bad. It was such a cute little chapel. I'm thrilled that Steph is engaged. We must have a get together so we can see it. I am so happy for her.
Oh, by the way. Larry Larson passed away yesterday. They decided to take off the life support and see what happened. He passed away around 1 p.m. and his funeral will be on Friday. Dan doesn't know any more about it. I feel so bad for Mary. She will miss him. I guess Jess is doing better, so that is good.
I have always wondered how it would be to walk with snow shoes on. Let us know how it goes. And if Shady can keep up with you. It was nice of you to take Ava for the day. I hope you enjoyed each other. Have you been to the Draper Temple open house yet?
